Forget the PR – April 2010

April 2010

This past month, I had the pleasure of revisiting the Mohican wilderness so that I could take part in the Forget the PR 50k. After barely finishing last year (the leg cramps were incredible – see below):

barely moving…

I figured this year would be a piece of cake…

barely moving part 2…

However, you might notice the same intense grimace as I finished this time around… battling the same leg cramps. I guess I will learn that my body has issues with covering 3800+ feet of ascent (and subsequently descent) during the course of a 31.5 mile race. Oh well, at least I finished about a half hour faster (5:25 versus last year’s 5:52) and had a great time running through the woods (at least when I wasn’t hobbled by the cramps). So, put this one on your calendar for next year, it’s a wonderfully organized race, the trails are incredible, and you have probably never challenged yourself with the same recipe of hills, mud, roots, and great folks.
